Manhattan shallow square tank

so i've had a 29 gallon setup for a little over a year now. a few weeks ago i finished my upgrade.

i was originally planning to have the tank in the middle of an alcove with a bay window but seeing how it would be in direct sunlight, i decided to swap it with my old tank which was in the living room.

the tank is 36" x 36" x 13" and made of 1/2" thick glass. The display comes out to around 70 gallons. i've got around 50lbs of aquacultured fiji live rock and about 40lbs of sand. the sand isn't more than half an inch deep. There is a single drain in the middle of the tank which empties into a filter sock.

the sump is a 20 gallon long tank (about half full). so i figure total system volume is about 80 gallons. the sump contains an aquaC remora skimmer (from my 29 gallon, underpowered, i know) and cheato (still need to get a fuge light). i plan on running carbon or chemipure. i've got a big thing of carbon but i can't seem to find my filter bags. the return pump is a mag 7 (with nylon screws) and it goes to a u-tube over the side of the tank (only side with minimal bracing). i've also got a jbj auto top off unit on the sump.

the light is a PFO 250w hqi running the phoenix 14k. i love the color. i'm using a 4 stage ro/di unit for water.

i only have 1 year of school left before residency (hopefully pediatric dentistry) so i was originally thinking of setting up this tank for a tank bred epaulette shark from tropicorium but thought better of it. even though i think it'd be fine in the tank for a year, buying a shark is kind of like buying a dog. i'd want to ship him to wherever i move to. so in the end this turned out to be a reef.
