haha... thanks tommy. for me the deciding factor was money! an aqualifter, a few buckets, kalk and some space was all that I needed to start dosing kalk. I guess ideally I'd go with a reactor but for now the bucket method is simple enough. |

I have the precision-marine and it's really easy to setup and use, and can't cost that much in electricity. The circulation pump is on for 15 mins 4 times a day... I use a AquaMedic doser (Niveaumat) which is a peristaltic pump. It's nice and slow, so no mishaps, although to be safe I also have another level control that it is plugged into, so I have double level checking. I've overflowed before, and don't want it happening again. I doubt that it uses much power either, as it isn't on that often. I like as much automation as possible. Once setup I pour in some kalk powder about once a month and that is it. The water feeds from a rubbermaid 30G? tub that has a float valve and is filled by my RO/DI. |

The Aquadose was a waste of money - gave it away already. For the past two months, have been using Geo Kalk reactor - could not be happier. pH is stable, all the SPS are growing like crazy. |
