ok, so if we got Oprah and Dr. Phil, can i get to be Jerry Springer.
my next show will be:
"My spouse is having an affair with a fish tank"

Randy, we are ready and waiting....
(i'll probably just pick up a copy of reef vol3 anyway)

just overall question: Is this gonna be a book club for newbies (i.e. very elementary level book) or one for advanced reefers as well?

It would be nice if we could meet in the middle somewhere, but I would suggest a cheap read for the first book, something that can be discussed without spending a fortune...

What about The Conscientious Marine Aquariast? It's available in softcover on amazon for $26.47. Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Conscientious-...e=UTF8&s=books

It's a good starting spot, for beginners and intermediates.

This may be a good option when considering the purpose of this book club:
Ultimate Marine Aquariums by Michael S. Paletta - Full Guide Book ...

"Saltwater Dream Systems and How They Are Created"
It's an easy read. No degree needed. Useful for a hobbyist at any level.
Randy (prattreef) has a featured tank in this book.
It shows how systems are set up with plenty of good info and pics. Although it does taper off towards the end and can be very vague at times, it does a good job of showing that there are no wrong answers and that with each technique comes the appropriate amount of husbandry to counter any shortcomings of each method.
I'd be willing to lend mine out to a member to help lighten the cost. Except you Eric, you'll pay me $100 a day
I also have the following books if anyone would like to borrow them:
The Reef Aquarium Vol 1 and 2 by Delbeek and Sprung (sorry, I don't have vol 3 yet)
Book of Coral Propagation by Calfo
Reef Invertebrates by Calfo and Fenner
World Atlas of Coral Reefs by Spalding, Ravilious and Green
Marine Aquarium Reference Systems and Invertebrates by Moe (a little outdated, but still some good info.)

I'll do the book club. Let me know what book.
As this could be taken a multitude of ways...I meant that I would participate in the book club. Randy and Al are much better organizers than I am and as for the other interpretation....don't even go there!

I like Henrye's Fenner suggestion. These all sound like great books, but which one is suited to be the first(i vote for Fenner)??

Maybe we could get to the more expensive books later in the book club. But i think we should all get around to reading as much as we possibly can read.

Also how exactly does this book club work?

And what are thoughts on an MR library?
