Question SUN POLYP question

I have had seen sun polyps for sale some look like one big polyp shorter polyps I have seen some lfs had suns that look more stalks where only the first inch or so has color, Is this how they grow and are they healthy and thy just grow this way or should I keep away from them they are on the way out and the lfs just is trying to re-coop some money??

Perhaps you can compare the ones you are seeing to these.

I think what you are describing is, similiar corals, but not exactly the same thing....however, many very similiar corals get goupped into the "sun coral" or "sun polyps" name... they have different scientific names, but the names only differ at the end.

So yes, they are healthy...generally, as long as you dont see skeletons(not white stalk, but skeleton of a head) they are healthy(unless its an obvious scar, or missing piece).
