Plate coral, short tentacle

I have an orange plate slightly larger than a quarter. A candy cane fell on it and the candy cane got burned but then a day later there is a whole patch on the plate that is just white skelatin. Any chance for this guy?

I've had a short tentacle plate for a while and over the years something has dropped on it, white skeleton was exposed and healed itself in time.
