Ugh!!!! Stop feeding these skimmers with pumps! Here's what I found to be the best mods in order: 1. Gravity Feed 2. Recirc 3. Gate mod When used together 2 and 3 really become 2 and 2A since I think the ability to fine tune is much more important with the recirc in place. |

Yes they perform better with the mods (in the order listed) than they do stock (IME). I also found the mods to be VERY easy to do as Pedro mentioned, once you get past "I'm about to drill a hole in my skimmer". I did tear up a feed mod once but fixed it by sending the bit through in reverse at full speed. It heated the plastic and made a nice smooth hole. Por Ejemplo: http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=ER1417 http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=ER1613 The recirc option adds $300 to the price tag. How long did it take your's to break in after the mod? Or did it start skimming right away? I notice some turbulence on top, but it just looks as if you put the hands in the tank and the column collapsed. I think i will just have to be patient on this one. I'm waiting on my meter to see what the pump is pulling. Last edited by Pedro; 03-07-2007 at 03:05 PM. |
