people with remora skimmers

ok as i was seeing alot of bubbles escaping and not actually going up into collection cup i was thinking of different ways to fix this. i took some 1\4" air tuning cut it and split it down the middle and put in on the side of the bottom of the collection cup, makes a seal on the side's causeing the bubbles to have to go up instead of spilling out the side and draining out. will post pic's later. also since i have a extra cup going to cut bottom tube off and make bigger with angled down collector to catch bubbles better and let them flow into instead of floating up to small flat area then hopefully going into tube

I agree with the collection cup fix.

IMO it is a terrible design.

I have been working on a few designs for a new collection I would like to try..

let me know when you do it, i dont mind being the tester i think if the bottom of the cup was domed some what it would be even more efficiant.

Rick,

i think this was because the back pressure from the seal you created forced the bubbles from coming up - I notice this with some other skimmers as well and one of the reasons why I think holes are drilled in the tops of collection cups.

How did it perform after you took the seal off?

I have the pro model, lots of foam and bubbles during braking in period, no bubbles ever now, have had it about 7 months now, bubbles were for the first week or so. Great skimmer.
