The other day I got mail from House of Fins about their sale and people coming to talk. its in October but i was wondering if anyone was thinking of going because i want to know if their are any other MR members their so I don't just look at them and be left wondering. well i thought they might be ok to add to my tank for my trigger. i looked up if they are ok and from what i heard they were ok to keep in a reef but they are mean they ripped apert one of my zoa colonys into two but didnt eat the zoas just pulled them off the rock. :smash:well at least i started to find lots of empty crab shells.:biggrin: This is just a warning they are ok for fowler and fo from what I see and they seem like good food.

I need to remove an anemone. Its foot is beween a rock and a hard place - literally!, how do I get it out without doing damage. I sold it now I gotta remove it.

Can anyone recommend the least "white" 150 watt 10k MH bulb?

Ok so i cut my filter cup down from the top to fit it under my stand. Anyone every do this? i used a dremel you cant even tell looks great, my ? is does this effect my skimmers performance? i would think not just would have to clean the collection cup more often. hwtas everyones take on it?

I have a beautiful rock covered with mushrooms but they are spreading around my tank like weeds. One took residence just inside the favorite cave of my blue assessor. Some I can cut out with a razor blade but other like the one in the cave are hard to reach. I'm amazed how they thrive in tiny crevices.

do vortechs need good air flow.im doing a 92 corner and im planning on cutting a square hole in the drywall so i can place my 2 vortechs on the side panels inside the wall.will this be alright or will they get to hot and burn up.im leaving 8 in of space above the tank for excess to them

I am on my way to school and just noticed that my sump is slowly leaking water. When I had done the tank change a fews ago my mother's fiance cracked the sump. I sealed the crack, it is an acrylic wet-dry. I intended to replace it but don't have the money right now. Well, it has slowly begun leaking. I filled it with two gallons of water and it is already close to the pump level. I see a tiny amount of water on the floor. It must not be leaking out at a fast rate because clearly this is the reason why I have been topping off my sump a lot lately. Can I shut the sump off fora few days until I find a new one to buy? (even though it'll leak in the process.

I am contemplating not restarting this tank, and just going freshwater, or no tank at all. Opinions? I just built a stand which cost me a lot as it is 4 feet of the ground and the added canopy will make it 7. However, the canopy is not done bc I have no way of getting the lights out the old hood. All my livestock, with the exception of four fish, died. It is getting an algae bloom again. And my sump cracked. Frustrated I need advice. I knew this would be a hard hobby but I have had nothing but disaster since day 1.

I love saltwater but what is the point of a saltwater tank if you spend tons of money on the creatures and in my case, watch them die ( I hate seeing them die, I feel bad).

I also go to school, soon law school, so not sure if this is the best fit even though I love saltwater : /

I hear a lot about kalk but truthfully I don't even know what it is or does?
Would like to know more about it, how it helps and how to dose it??
