Anthias

Let's see your anthias. If possible, also post some basics about it and care.
Pseudanthias Evansi. AKA yellow back, yellow tail or evansi anthias
grows up to 4.5 inches
Quote:
Prefer a water temperature of 72 - 80°F (22 - 27°C). Require exceptional water quality, good water movement and numerous feedings per day. Diet consists mainly of meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and enriched fresh fish and shrimp flesh. Appears to be difficult to maintain, therefore, probably better left in the wild.
Feeding and water quality seems to be the thing that makes them difficult to keep. Mysis and cyclpoeeze seem to be the only thing mine will eat. They won't touch flakes, squid or any of my home made foods. They seem very aggressive towards one another as well as other anthias. I haven't been able to keep more than 2 in a 180.

Beautiful fish.

Get some arcti-pods from Reef Nutrition. Falco's anthias have gone nuts for the stuff.

Here are a few pics of my Lyretail Anthias. I have 6 (1 Male/5 Females) in my 135g mixed reef for about 5 months now. Mine only ate cyclopeeze and mysis while in QT but started eating prime reef (frozen and flakes), brine and formula 1 pellets while in the tank. As Tom mentioned they went NUTS for the Arcti-Pods I need to get another bottle of that stuff as it didn't last 2 weeks with my tank

Anthias can be tricky but I find that feeding them at least 2 times a day helps a lot. I also soak my food in Vita-Chem and some form of garlic every day (during 1 feeding).

My male is aggressive towards the females but never does any damage to them. His behavior is so the females know who's boss so they don't get any ideas and change into a male My Anthias don't tend to bother any other fish in the tank but they do get picked on a little by my large Clarkii Clown and Sailfin Tang.

Lastly, a lot of people think by adding large number of Anthias to their tanks that they will school. In some cases they will but I have found that most of the time they will just keep to themselves. Mine only tend to school when my clown or tang are picking on the females and they school as their defense.

Now for the pics:

Thanks guys

Believe or not I got these guys from LiveAquaria. I took a chance as to what the male would look like and I got lucky When I first got him his color was great but he has gotten even better once in the display tank.

Here are some pics when they were in QT:

Scarf - if you get your male some females I am sure he will color up quite quickly.
