how old is the tank he's in?
they should be in well established reef tanks so they can
pick off the rocks while they get adjusted to other food.
I feed mine a blend of homemade food, most of it is mysis,
but it contains many other ingredients. I think it took about two
weeks for my CBB to start to eat the mysis blend.

they eat aiptasia. It's not the only thing they will eat but I have often resorted to giving them a small rock with a few polyps on it to get an initial feeding response. It doesn't always work but if they aren't eating anything else it's worth a shot. I know people who have cultured mass amounts of aiptasia in their sumps for the sole purpose of introducing a constant food source for their CBB and their tank stays clear from any visible signs of the anemone.

they do eat aptaisia, but they will also eat small feather dusters and tube worms. this is why having a well established reef will provide the fish enough natural food as it aclimates to your tank.

Zany,

Butterflies are not one of the best fish to keep in captivity - likely the racoon will die off as well, although, has a higher chance of making it. There are many fish like this that really dont fair well in captivity - I wish you luck with this one and hope you consider chossing a different fish if the racoon doesn't make it.

Good luck.
