Use a clear cup, the same that is used in a store when you buy a new fish. Try to flush the fish out in to the cup. This worked for me, my hippo is the first to come down with ich in my tank. I use copper in a Q T tank it works well. Good luck Pete |

Noelski, If you dont get a trap asap just do it the old fashion way and remove enough rock so you could get him out. Its only a 40 so it shouldnt be too bad. I know this isnt the best advice, but if it is ich you really dont want it to spread to your other fish, thats what happen to me and now I have a 125 EMPTY for another 5 weeks, because I didnt isolate ich fish immediately. just put rock intoa big bucket or tub, keeping it wet. As for qt have it setup and make sure to read threads on QT's because Ive had trouble keeping paramaters stable in a small QT and you do all necessary steps if you set one up. |

Just know if you don't get the fish out at night while it is sleeping , you are going to STRESS the heck out of it. If the Ick is not too severe, feed him often with Garlic soaked food, That is what worked for me. Then, when my hippo got too big ,and stated ripping up my Zoo's. I nabbed him in his sleep. You need to find out where he likes to sleep.

Dude, if the tang is eating well, just leave him alone & make sure you feed him small amounts often. The ich will clear up on it's own. If not, he wasn't strong enough to handle it anyway. Trying to catch him will just stress him, you & the other occupants more. Make sure he gets a lot of seaweed salad. I wouldn't worry too much about garlic or other additives. Just keep an eye on him. |
