Pierce, I don't have a $35 refractometer. My Captive Purity is not necessarily lab grade, but it has 'hash marks' for each individual reading from 1.000 - 1.007. The blue line is crisp, distinct and very clear. I can come close to reading 1.0265 without any trouble.

BTW, my wife can get you glasses/contacts too. :thrash:

Can you get a TDS reading on your tap water? Specific gravity of 1.001 corresponds to 1.3ppt/1300ppm. Way above normal. That can't be right.

My tap water comes in at 104 - 107 TDS.
