I lost all of my acros except one. Most were 4-6". Top of a 37g so not a ton, but still disappointing.

All montis, lps, softies, everything else survived. Oh, and the xenia melted.

This was all with a 2 hour UPS that I only turned on to cycle the sump and the main tank every hour or two. The village's power came on the last in the entire city. I'm still not sure about the cause of that one.

This was a 37g with 12g sump, no leaks though!

i had a 72gal at the time, no SPS, no sump, no skimmer.
I didnt lose a thing, i added ice in the begining to keep the temp down. then i just moxed the water up my hand (picking up the water in a pitcher and pouring it back in) just to give some flow and oxygenate it.
power came back on arouind 3pm - and i didnt lose a thing (thank god).

This is the mother of all inventions -

I too had beer in hand (candlelit no less)

I lost nothing!!!! in my 92

I took my cordless drill and fastened a 1" bit in it. I took a wooden paddle from my kitchen and taped it to the 1" bit. Every hour for about 5-10 minutes, I just pulled the trigger of the drill and rubber-banded it in place - closed my hood on the drill and ler her run.

Something to consider next time.

I many people lost a ton, so sorry about that.

I lost alot of fish but no corals. I had four seahorses that were two mated pairs, die, :( .

I was up all night siphoning out water from the tank, shaking it up and pouring it back in. It was a terrible night, that I hope never happens again. Since that time I am loaded up with small venturi pumps and APC to run them (you remind me that I still need to get the battery operated air pumps also!). I should be good for at least 24 hours!!

Pretty much Reefguy. Without oxygen things start to die. I lost most of my sps colonies. I did get to frag some. It's a day i want to forget. I was out for 25hrs and pretty much helpless. I did as much aerating as i could by stirring the surface. To this day my tank hasn't been the same ever since.

here something to think about a water dreving pump ,hook it up to your house water and move water in tank just like a tubo pump moves gases moves air,as long you can find one small size ,have to look into this.

I have a lot of clients all over the city didn't lose anything in my reef and planted tanks but any tanks with alot of large fish only type system (luckly I don't maintain too many) total wipe out.

One client had a 400 gallon tank with a nurse shark, he was away for the weekend, when he returned eveything was dead.

Most people I know it was the other wasy around, people that had Reef tank lost and people that had fish tanks where ok. The thing is that people that had alot of pods, shrimp, clam and inverts lost thoses right away causing oxygen problems in their tanks to be even lower and resulting in things dieing in their tanks faster. People with fish only tanks just need to move the water around or use a pail to pick up and drop the water back into the tank.

I don't know
I?m not exaggerating and most of the tanks I take care of are in offices so no one was there all weekend. Monday morning everything was fine.
