I'm thinking about chucking the fluvals finally.

I'm planning on using a regular intake tube connected to an EXTERNAL mag7 to draw the water out from the tank, then connected to the SCWD and have the two outputs back to the tank.

Anyone run a close loop system, will this work? Thinking about placing the mag7 in a bucket in case it leaks.

Thanks for your thoughts,
Steven

I have a closed loop scwd set up. I also picked up the lifegard plumbing kit. the combination is stellar. Spray bar, several intake and outflow tubes spread throughout the tank. plenty of flow and little or no dead spots.

yup, that's the kit I bought.

the tank is a 26 gallon bow. I forget which pump I used but the first one I had leaked a bit, which I managed to fix and then I had a minor fire behind the the tank and a couple of the tubes ruptured (while I was away and the doorman kept adding water for me so I flooded big time). The pump crashed on me once but the new one has been stellar.

I'll check out which pump it is.

The thank has two inflow tubes, one on the left, one on the right. The one on the left is split into two intakes, one upper, one lower. There is a spray bar on the left which runs vertical, rather than horozontal (no room for it the other way) and the right side has another outflow. The scwd alternates like a god. I've never had cyano or other dead spot indicator type problems.

The only problems I had was space. A bigger tank would have allowed for much more plumbing but the end result is excellent water flow. I have a bunch of extra parts from the kit, which I plan on using when I set up my 7 in the new office. (or the new cube if I go that route)
