whats ur alk? I once added too much of an alk buffer and my water became really cloudy as well. Didn't hurt my fish/coral, but it took a couple of weeks for it to settle/filter out. There is an article in one of my reef books about adding too much Ca making the water cloudy--- don't have it on hand right now though. Maybe a search on wetwebmedia.com will help?

did you just set up your tank?

too much Ca will cloud the water- as it won't be able to disolve. I would put a sponge somewhere on a powerhead or filter to remove as much of the sediment as possible and rinse it often. If your tank is established I wouldn't change too much of the water- don't want to have to cycle all over again, and that could cause ammonia spikes which would hurt your fish/coral as well. I'd look up somewhere to see if excess Ca could harm things though- I really am not sure on that one.

You might have added too much calcium and some of it is precipitating out of solution. I would just leave it alone and let it clear up in a few days.

has anyone else experienced this after adding i think to much calcium. should i just do several water changes throughout the day. thanks again guys
it will cloud up your tank ,but it shouldnt be for long ,,I use Seachem ,I do the GARF (bullet proof reef on my selling tanks)I use all Seachem additive ,Let me tell you <it works great ,I have been tring to get Coralline In my main tank ,for 2 years,no freaking luck ,
using the Bullet proof system from GARF ,which uses only Seachem and 2 months and coraline is starting on my return pipe ,BB, and glass ,
so yup ,it will cloud up ,but not for long ,maybe 1hr not longer

Wow ,,few days ,I have never experienced cloudy water for a few days from adding to much clacium ,but that just me
Even when i use to use B-ionic ,and buffer in when i started ,it would cloud up only for a few hrs ,

I'll have to look into that GARF method- havent been on that site in a while...
I can say it is working great on my sellin gtanks ,Ma switch my main tank to that system as well, and that would get rid of my Calcium reactor ,still thinking
