but the difference is that here were are dealing mostly with ppl we know and trust (better than craigslist/ebay/etc). I would feel more comfortable buying/selling with MRer than random ppl.

"Mostly" is a very loose word around here. I had three people set up to buy or trade stuff from me that never showed up at my house, after I made or cancel plans to wait for them. Few flakes causes me to be very cautious on buying or selling here.

well you can then give them a negative rating and others will be warned.

whats nice here is that with the ratings, the 'main' crowd really gets along and all have perfect ratings (who'd want to be the guy that screws the deal?). with newer members that we really do not know yet, obviously it would be prudent to be more cautious till they build up a reputation (one way or another).

Actually that happen quite abit where some one jumps in to buy something right away and then either doesn't show up or backs out on the item and your stuck with it because you where holding it for them. I'm not sure the rating are something that people are looking at, I know I'm don't, because most if not all the post have been positive even though some people I'm sure deserve negitive posts.

Some time you have to call the person out or they'll just keep doing it over and over. I know I;ve been burn on a couple of group buys but just eat the cost myself.

The funny thing is he is buying everything that is up for sale, regardless what it is or if he even knows what it is..

Now I won't hold anything I am selling for people I don't know, I hope newbies won't feel I am being a jerk about it.

What would be considered abuse, Peter? If you could sell anything non-reef, there'd be no limit on what could be posted; hence the problem.

I don't want to imagine the work, a "non-reef for sale forum" would create for the current moderators :headache:

Do you mean a "networking thread" or its own forum? I thought the nudibar was set up for those post.

I see networking as a space for professional discussion about job opportunities and services our members offer, the complete opposite of the nudibar "flavor"
