I don't think there really is a thing as 100% reef safe. Alot of fish will perches on top of corals, use them as hiding spaces or even their homes or some will even throw sand on them causing them to be hurt or even die. Some fish will even pick at the corals even though it not what they would normally eat. In a close system any fish could cause a problem and it's alway a crap shoot when adding a fish.

answered the wrong question. But thanks for the info. Knew that already but thanks none the less. The first line was set to set up the comedic tone of the question. Completely retorical.

HEY! Don't make me contact the ASPCF!!!

I've found that if you leave your green net in the tank for a few days - the fish accept is as part of their home and don't dart off so easily when you try to net them. Maybe a strategically placed net combined with feeding time near your 'hell spawn's' favorite rock - flip up the net on him....he might even catch himself (if he'll eat algae pellets or flakes...)

Hell yeah!!! Stupid thing netted himself. We left two green nets in the tank like you suggested and he got so used to them. He didn't even flinch when Eric pulled up the net.

He has a good home now, this guy named Craig Petersen out in Long Island - think he might be one of Marrone's friends? He has him in a fish only with a few other things and feeds him 6 krill a day. His daughters adore him and named him Lenny the Lobster. He is the centerpiece of the tank. We really found him a good home.

Yeah Frank deserves the credit for that little trick. Now if only I could catch my clownfish that way so I can put him in the other tank.. Hes too smart to fall for that trick.. Got any other useful ones for smart clownfish?

Seems like you know where it sleeps. If you're like me and not patient enough for the net trick, quickly pull that rock out when the lights go out and put it in your sump. Once you see it swimming in the sump, put the rock back.

Unfortunately for you, Eric, I don't suppose clowns sleep inside rocks.

Unfortunately the bicolor is a hard fish to catch, been there done that. He attacked alot of my sps as well. I lost alot of my birds nest to him. I almost caught him one time, so here's what i recommend. See where he sleeps at night. Try to put the net in such a way that it blocks off most of the escape route. Then use some kind of tool to scare him out. He will sometimes shoot out into the net. But you have to be quick or he will reverse back out. I also used large tubing shaped to seal the hole and then i attached a mesh bag on the end. The idea is that for him to come out he would have to go through the tube and into the mesh bag. None of these ideas are a sure way, but it's worth a try. I have since given up on mine. Maybe he will outgrow it as he gets older. Good luck.
