Featured this morning was the Georgia Aquarium . Amongst the 8 million g of aquarium they showed a huge reef setup. WOW!!! The place will open on November 23rd.

The largest reef in the US
180,000g
200,000 watts of light
And wave simulator that we all dream of....

Normally it would take me forever to wakeup but seeing this.... :bigeyes2: :D

the link would not work for me?

but that sounds cool. the last amazing public aquarium I was at, was the Monterey bay aquarium in CA.

200,000 watts of light? I wonder what size MH bulbs they are using?

road trip :)

if going mainstream means more aquacultered coral and tank bred fish being grown, then I'm for it. I would not want to see anymore fish and coral being pulled from the worlds reef's just to fuel a growing hobby.
I think we are at a point where the amount of damage to reefs is getting critical. it's not all the hobbies fault, but we are part of it.
Hopefully exhibits like this new one being built will help raise the awareness that the worlds reefs need protecting. just my 5 cents.

here here jhale, i think our hobby should be about preserving a piece of ocean, not stealing a piece of it. I hope our hobby gets to a point where it's self sustaining and even if possible, provide corals back to the reefs that have been damaged and shrinking.

The price can only drop if the increase in quantity (or supply) exceeds the increase in demand.
But if the supply does not increase, the increased demand will push prices higher.

here, this shows a shift in demand. At the same supply, the price will be higher.

If more people want something, they will be willing to pay more for it.
