"He can't handle the Truth"

It's people like you that sit back in the bathroom all peaceful and serene reading Aquarium Fish magazine without knowing that it's people like us that are on the frontline with the big skimmers making it a safer place to maintain a reef so the propagation of corals can sate the appetites of people like you.... You wanna know the truth...I called the Code Red and I'd do it again:mad: :banghead: ...

Ok yeah by the way. Sorry if we didnt answer your question properly but the truth is that skimmer isn't worth adjusting in the first place. Get yourself something worthy of your inhabitants if you value them.

Being that the seaclone is what you have to work with.... fistly do you have it assembled and hanghing off the back of your tank? If so check the airline tubing that comes out of the pump. On the end there should be this black thingy where you can adjust the airflow going in. You said mini cyclone with lots of bubbles coming out. Chances are that the airintake is not open enough. Just mess with that black thingy.

Skimmers especially the seaclone can take quite sometime to break in. I also made the mistake of the seaclone back in the day It will take time.

Get used to people busting your balls on the seaclone. Under normal circumstances I would be busting your balls too. I am still sober.

When you can try to upgrade the skimmer to save you some headaches in the future. REMEMBER BIGGER IS BETTER and yes SIZE DOES MATTER.

A 10 gallon tank needs like a RK2 or something man.... A CPR Bakpak would still be better and easier. But take Hermans advice because I have been drinking...

I have a seaclone, it is on a new tank I setup (33 gal which will be used as a holding tank for fish prior to them going in main tank)... anyway, the Seaclone will work, but as mentioned there are some modifications you may want to perform. First and the only real mod I did was change the air valve. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a brass valve from the refridgerator water feed area.

This single mod alone turned my seaclone from a bubbler to a white-out of bubbles. After about a week it started pulling stuff from the tank. Initially I got a lot of micro bubbles into the tank from it, but they seemed to have died down.

The next mod I did which doesnt affect functionality...was I drilled the cup and put an 90 dgree elbow in and connected tube from there to a small bucket to collect the good stuff.

Some people suggest cutting down the inner most tube since it is a bit high. My inner tub came glued in place so I couldn't get it out. You can also gut down the inner most tube of the collection cup to help it collect the "good stuff" easier.

Good luck...

Rich

ps. I placed the powerhead just below the water surface so it would pull in the garbage floating on the surface. U dont want it to break the surface, but have it close enough so you see it create a funnel effect and it will definately help.

Two step procedure for you:

Step one.. Look for a CPR back pack or Aqua C Remora used for around $50.
Step Two.. Ask the guy who sold you the sea"clown" for your money back.

I gave(free) my seaclone to a guy who asked for one specifically so he can do some mods on it, I felt bad giving the thing to him so I gave him one of my old large becket skimmers few months later:).

Since your tank is only a 10gal I wouldn't worry about changing the skimmer over. Even though the SeaClone isn't a great skimmer with the water changes that you'll be doing on the tank it should be good enough.

When you think about upgrading the tank then start to look at different skimmer until save you money on the Remora and just go with the SeaClone.
