I have both refractometer and hydrometer. They both read exactly same, well maybe hydrometer reads little off like less than .001

I use both. Like I mix my salt, I use hydrometer to quick read. But I use refractometer for final read.

ink, trust the refractometer,

you can calibrate it with ro/di water.

place some on the glass and make sure it reads O.

I use my refracto only to calibrate by how much my hydrometer is off by. My hydro seems to be consistantly off by X amount & I am able to trust it that way.

If you don't have a refractometer, then I recommend that you at least borrow someones & see how much your existing measuring device is off by. Mine is off by .002, which is significant.
