hey guys hope all is well.

i was in FT and bought some carbon and the guy was insisting for me to buy chemi pure. my response was i dont like to put chemicals in water. He said it wasnt chemicals. I dont think he was right about this accoirding to a article that i read. and i want to see if he is or the article is. Is chemi pure a chemical based caron bag or is it a fine carbon based pouch that can do wonders?

thanks
matt

I do remember reading something about ions, so i think it has some active incredients. For me, I use it to polish my water. It's crystal clear. It also seems to stabalize my ph. I have a HOB filter for my nano and the 1/2 bag of chemipure wrapped in poly-filter pads are all the mechanical filtration I need.

I've used it, and it does work well, it's carbon plus some kind of resin.

for your size tank your going to need quite a few, I think 6 maybe more, do not buy them at FT, order them online and get a discount for buying more than three at a time.

Chemipure is made up of some kind of resin. It does not have carbon (The resin is made up entirely of small white beads)

A LONG time ago, prior to live rock, I used to use chemipure in my fish only tanks. (At the time I had the hang-on-back filters and an undergravel filter) It used to make my water crystal clear, but at this point I would only recommend a good quality activated carbon.

Believe it or not, the one sold at Petland Discounts in the cardboard containers tested very low in phosphates in comparison tests. For the price it can not be beat!

Its so funny, the exact same thing happened to me, and I just said no, that I wanted carbon. However it seems as if most ppl like it here, so I might give it a shot.
