Kimoyo, I'll tell you things that are different from my experience and maybe jonathan will add anything that he has noticed. 1. The build quality. That is the first thing that you will notice. Jonathans pics are great to see the detail that is put into the design and materials used on these units. 2. Our patented Top Down Injection. With this design you can use any pump and get results. We use eheim pumps but anything will work. This design is very effective and doesn't require a HUGE pump like most venturis in order to work properly. Also if you compare it to a needlewheel the repair or replacement cost is drastically reduced. Besides the cost compared to a needlewheel eheim, it is running as it is intended. I think this is key. When you modify an impeller you reduce the performance of that pump to pump water. You are asking the pump to both, pump water and chop bubbles in a needlewheel setup and that is not the case in this skimmer ( or any venturi for that matter). 3. The size. If you look at jonathans set up you can see that he needed a skimmer that could fit in a tight spot and still be rated for a relatively large tank. I went from a huge needlewheel to the NS and it was nice having the extra room to work without sacrificing any performance. You can also see that the depth doesn't matter much as long as it is not covering the outlet for the water you are fine. 4. Ease of use. You basically have one adjustment and that is a simple clamp to regulate the air. We are big on ease of use and this was key in the desing of this skimmer. 5. Other things. The ability to completely disassemble for easy cleaning, skimmer cup doesn't need to be locked on, pump can be placed in 3 different locations, it's quiet. There is more I am probably missing but that is what I thought of at the moment. I have used other skimmers and there are some good ones out there and it comes down to what you want. I am a person who is into small details, build quailty, performance and reliability and this skimmer has all of that, but there are others that do, as well. Hope that helps. Jesse |

I got my DAS skimmer, not as expected though. It had a few cracks from shipping and also the item was not as described. It was sold as a 3 week old skimmer. Both pumps were calcified and did not work when plugged in, also the pump connections to the acrylic were siliconed, and they leak!!! To top it off this guy is giving me a hard time returning it. If this guys does not refund the skimmer and pay for the shipping to return it, what do you think I should do? This is why I hate buying used $hit ![]() |

It is insured but since it was shipped by the post office a claim cannot be made for 21 days. In a situation like this what is the right thing to do? Do I have to wait 21 days to get my money back? |

Yes, def. take some pics. The same thing happened when I first got my deltec, took pics right away, forwarded it to the claims agent, and I was set. Skimmers are never good shippers.
