you know it Tom. not to brag or anything but I think my tank is the perfect candidate, plenty of nasty junk to pull out. I'm going to need input from the skimmer masters to help set them up so the testing is fair. Like making sure they are both skimming the same type of skimmate wet dry etc. Do you think running them at the same time is the best way to do it? I think running the drain line to the DAS is good also for another reason. The DAS will have to sit in the chamber after the bubble traps, which is also after the elos. Being drain fed will give the skimmer the same quality water the elos is getting. I will need help figuring out the proper amount to feed the DAS. The ehiem 1260 pump on the elos puts out 645gph I think. For a recirculating skimmer what's the recommended flow? |

The Deltec design actually works better with the airvalve slightly closed. The height of the water in the skimmer chamber would be more important as long as you don't exceed the recommended gph but your DAS does not give you that info. When I did the 1.5 to 2x the turnover on my Euro-Reef, I had to restrict the output gatevalve by 50% to achieve the correct water height so strictly going by the 1.5 to 2x theory really doesn't work if your over sizing your skimmer. |
