Hey Herman, I hope you remember me. I was the one who sold you the DAS skimmer last year. I can't believe what you put these people through. They all ended up buying DAS skimmers, lol. Here is a few explanation regarding DAS Skimmers. DAS is no longer an active company and that's why it's hard to find other distributors. What you are actually buying right now are 4-5 years over stocked DAS skimmers. Deltec used the same technology as DAS but improved the pumps a little bit and the craftsmanship. I have owned both a Deltec and DAS skimmer. The amount of skimmate and also how the skimmer works also depends a lot in the bioload you have on your tank. My Deltec AP600 5" diameter with 1 AquaBee 2000 skimmer worked very nice on my 55 gallon +20 gallon sump system while DAS on the other end with an 8" diameter and 3 AquaBees 2000 pumps never made the skimate to overflow in the collection cup, so basically only the neck of the skimmer was collecting skimate. I also noticed that with DAS, the temperature of water rised an extra 4 degrees in summer time compared to Deltec, reason for that is that DAS uses 2 extra pumps. I hope this info helps a little bit. |

so is there any reason I can't replace the DAS impeller with an h&s impeller for the same pump? when I get mine setup I think I am going to get an air meter and test each impeller to see if there's a difference. |
