agree with all, do water changes. anyone have an extra skimmer to loan you till your's gets there? any skimmer is better than no skimmer.
I was thinking the same thing, but I dont no anyone with an extra skimmer just laying around. Maybe rent-a-center might have one, lol.

Day 2 skimmerless.
My anemone's tentacles dont arent extending as long and as thick as they were. Polyp extension has reduced as well. I just put an express order in for the unit to be shipped next day air, hopefull I should have it by tomorrow.

Jawwad, it's just past 10am...your lights are on already? :Yikes:

Either you're overreacting to the fact you have no skimmer or your water quality was suspect. You're describing alot of changes which should not be attributed solely to 2 days of no skimming. Did you cut back on feedings?

The anemone wasnt looking to well last night when the lights were being shut off. This morning before I left to work, it was in the same condition. Even when my lights are off, the anemones and corals look really good. In the past 2 days, I have only fed my fish once. I added new carbon and a fresh filter sock on the drain. Fuge has been lit since Sunday night non stop.

I agree
If you water quality was good to start with 2 or even 10 days without one shouldn't crash the system.

What kind of low power usage lighting do you plan to use on this reef? Natural sunlight? How about replicating natural water movement? No pumps? Why choose the skimmer in your decision to go "natural" when there's plenty other artificial items on most reef tanks?

honestly if i had alot of money to spend, i would try to develop some led based lighting and natural sunlight lighting base on mirrors and natural light from my living room, i noticed my corals start to open slightly even with my room lighting early in the morning, as for water movement i would make a wave maker based off of 5" plexi panels sweeping back and forth the surface of tank through a some kind of rail system. prob generate a lot more and natural movement than any powerhead

My water quality has been exceptional ever since I started to used RO water. I had an Aquac EV180 on my tank right before I decided to upgrade to the Deltec. All my params were at 0. I am going to check again once I get home and post them.
