Sorry everyone I haven't been following this thread or I could have answered some of your questions since I have a dual-y.

Yes they come with a snail guard and trust me you do not need another one. You zip tie the float switches to the black plastic holder so you could slip a temp probe behind it if you wanted to.

Russ, total clearance needed is 2".

ALERT: I just thought of something.....I might be able to cut the flanged trim at the spot I put the bracket and pickup 3/8". I'll let you know tomorrow (well later actually )

Al, yes you can cancel my snail guard if it's already included.

Here's an email I received from them about lip sizes. Discounts are mention as well.

Hi Tommy, you’ll need the 1” size. The 1.5” fits AGA 55 gallon and up and some acrylic tanks.
