I live in Park Slope and visited Leo's place for the first time. WOW! I highly doubt I will go elsewhere looking for corals after today. Worth the trip even if you live in the city. Really nice guy, really nice corals, really nice prices...how could one go wrong? The corals are the nicest I have ever seen for sale in the NYC area, attached to real rock with other colorful life present; sponges, polyps, etc. Here is a pic of the beautiful montipora I got from him.

I agree, it depends on water quality and a few other things.

1. Calcium/Alkalinity/Magnesium
2. Lighting
3. Placement in accordance to lighting and flow
4. Additives (strontium, potassium, iodine, etc)
5. The presence of phosphates and silicates (less is better)

Under the right conditions, pocillopora can be a reasonably fast grower
