you really have to keep track of your usage then if you can't have any fuel older than 30 days.
No problem. Glad I could offer you the insight, since I just went through it.

Stihl is very embarassed by this situation. That's probably why they don't make mention of it during their sales pitch (makes sense). However, it is not a Stihl generated issue. It will happen with, Toro, Red Max, Husquavarna, Craftsman, etc. It is totally ethanol in our gasoline mixed with 2 cycle engine oil related.

The tech suggested that if I could find a gas station that sells ethanol free gasoline (regardless of grade of gas) to use that. He said that will basically have a shelf life like the gasoline of 'yore'. These problems never happened before the ethanol infusion.

NY passed a law that requires 12 months of ethanol. Just a couple of years ago, it was only used in the winter months.

I'm afraid to start my string trimmer and my chain saw now. Both of those have been sitting since last summer with the mix in them.

Anyway, glad I could help avert any potential problems. Good luck with it. It's a beaut.

Russ

thanks Tony. for the record I don't cut down trees, I just use the ones that mother nature knocks down, and the occasional tree surgeon's victims

Not to mention chainsaws have other uses (decks, roofs etc).

Nice saw John.

He made a minor adjustment to house's 'quote'.

Yes, I noticed he removed "getting rid of dead bodies". But, what's the point of removing it if you are going to include it in the quote?

Back to the topic...I think my swiss army knife will out cut it!
