The thread was closed because it was leading to personal comments & remarks.
It had nothing to do with the topic or being adults.

Chief is right.
I've been on the forums long enough to know where it starts to lead to.
If the topic starts going a different direction, I will close it again.

Come on Joe...
No one had to beg the other thread to be closed.
Everyone was aware.
There were actions & decisions to be made.

Ok. Fair but yet not fair. If people say or do thigns that are not appripriate then they should be talked to or their posts removed- but don't take the post away from the rest of us because a few people are not doign the correct things...

Again lets just leave the post at this point. I will say one last tiem that I do feel bad for the hikers and their families. TI is a horriable situation and I wish the outcome was not so dismal. I hope people learn from it and thsi sort of thing can be avoided in the future. I think we continue searches and we continue to do what we can to save human life but I also suggest we look at our media and we look at being more fair for all our citizens. We all deserve the same expense, time and effort- and media coverage for that matter. These human beings (hikers) are no better than any other human beings and we need to remember that. The media can blur that at times.... Lets jsut be fair.

Jasno, don't feel bad.
I've had a "MR Get Together Dinner" thread closed once...and that's sad.
I believe MR, as a site, main purpose is for reefing.
Nudibar and off-matter subjects/threads are privileges/additonal features the site moderators/creator provide for us. As a result, they have the right to take that privilege away from us. Now, if it was a reefing thread, I believe you would have a stronger case. However, this is a off-subject matter...there are a lot of other sites out there for you to express your opinions on the matter. MR does not have to serve that purpose. It can if it wants to, at the discretion of the mods. This is JMO, ofcourse.

I agree with you. We are at war! Where is the reporting on that! Why aren't we allowed to see the funerals of the brave souls who are dying over there everyday in numbers that make my stomach ache. Why isn't the reporting factual. Seems like the rest of the world is more up to date than the USA, I wonder why?
