Again the point was missed, show me the anti-hunting comments in the thread please I did not see any. I consider hunting when you go out, hunt and bring something back to eat, so perhaps there's a difference of definitions here. My question was what do people get out of killing an animal just for fun? Your not eating it so stop with the supermarket analogies.
LFS you do realize your on a site where the majority of people like and respect animals. You should not be surprised when people react to shooting birds for the fun of it in a negative way.

the point of this whole thread was the trapping of pigeons in nets and being shipped somewhere for "target practice" its really about getting rid of a major pest that carries disease to human beings.if any one knows a humane as you say way of controlling the pigeon population stop complaining on this thread and call a local politician or write to him/her.but for now i agree with the way they handle the pigeon problem.maybe when someone gets sick from these animals they will feel differently thats what usually happens when it hits home then thyll want something done

Hey I don't eat Pigeons and I certainly don't like pigeons, and well lets face it I don't shoot pigeons but if someone were to offer you a pigeon burger would you actually eat it? BLEH!! On a lighter note if they need to export pigeons to other pars of the country so that they can have them in their cities and towns, we got plenty to spare in NY As a matter of fact it could help probably give tax rebates to people in nyc if we sold them to other cities!

I would not eat a pigeon burger either but I did find a Italian pigeon soup recipe that looks tasty http://www.lifeinitaly.com/venetian-...D=92&pageNum=1

yeah I've seen them at stores in the city, they are not cheap. There's not much meat on even the largest of pigeons.

well look if you trap them and set them loose somewhere else they will reproduce and where they are relocated will cause problems elsewhere.
Good Point

there were several anti hunting comments
Where?

Trapping pigeons with nets does not control the population. As I said and witnessed. They feed a hundred to catch twenty.

Also, the point of this thread has nothing to do with hunting wild game. The point is that this is an illegal act, and in addition the birds are being used in an unsporting manner.

And no, I am not a vegan. Yes, growing up I did personally know almost every animal I ate as well as all the poor little vegetables in our garden. So sad...killing all those string beans...Unfortunately that is not practical in the city so I only buy organic free range animal products including eggs.

They are definitely free range, but I wonder if eating garbage qualifies them for organic
