with all due respect that will get you even less help. sometimes it takes a while before a post gets some attention. be patient.

Use the search option to find information on diatoms. There is tons of information.

That'lll be all everyone. What you should do is use he search feature to see if the question has been asked before - likely it had been asked - If you're not satisfied with what your search yeilds, submit a thread and in the thread say I found this here and that here BUT, I am looking for more information on - just a suggestion, not a requirement. I'll search for your question and see if I can give it some love. House

I''m sorry that you got left out and feel this way! I got diatom algae in my tank when I over ran the lighting time. The main ingredient that fuels diatom growth is Silicate and Phosphate. Although your testkit may say 0 ppm on Phosphate, I don't believe in it in every tank there is high amount of input of Phosphate, its in the food, when fish poop, if you run calcium reactor, etc. almost all photosynthetic animals utilize small traces of phosphate in their kelvin cycle. Thats where it gets neutralized ^^ if you don't have lot of corals, then high input of PO4, low out of PO4, you will get accumulation of PO4. Also Silicate is in tap water/deer part spring water etc, you need to use RO DI, more emphasis on DI, may be its time to change your cartridge also. Dripping Kalkwasser helps precipitate Silicate and PO4; also higher pH helps kill diatom algae, so drip Kalkwasser and less hrs on lighting. Sincerely, |

Reefer Ratings: (96) Friends: (17) | p.s. Here's the thread in question. At the time of this posting, had only 35 views. Hardly enough to obtain...as you put it..."real help". Last edited by Deanos; 03-02-2007 at 10:56 AM. |

wow, that's harsh! whenever i have asked questions here there has always been a reply even if it takes time. People have other lives other than answering questions on MR. Also this is not the only source of information on the internet. Shocked by that harsh post
