German Shepherd FREE to a good home

I know I know it's not fish related but I'd figure I'd post here anyway since I've seen other stuff non-related. Anyway I'm trying to find a home for my 3-4yr old German Shepherd. Only thing is he's got fleas from being outside and I can't seem to get of them with the flea shampoo that I brought. Because of this he's been ripping his hear near his tail =( Girlfriend wants to move and just doesn't want the dog anymore. He's a good dog and well trained...good with cats, kids, good watchdog. Barks when anyone knocks etc. Has all shots and license till 2008. Email me directly if interested at plbelanger@gmail.com as I'll probably respond quicker. I'm on Staten Island right off the Verazzano Bridge and really need him to goto ASAP preferably today. I'll be around online all day so just shoot me an email.

Better yet, get him K-9 Advantix. This is what I use on all my dogs. It works great, plus it keeps mosquitoes & flies away as well.
I doubt very highly that you will be able to adopt him that quickly. It takes time to find animals good homes. And the older the animal the harder it gets, plus he has fleas already too. Treat the poor dog of the fleas. Sorry I cannot be of some help. We are upto our ears in the pet dept. Worse case scenario do an internet search for "German Sheperd Rescue Groups".

How do people get animals, and a couple of years decide that they are a burden and just dump them. Do they understand the trauma the animal goes through. Imagine your self in that situation. Your born into a family, your loved until your 7 or 8 then they throw you out.;(
Poor dog is right.
I have three pit bulls of which can live to be 25 yrs. old. Before we adopted them we accepted that the responsibility was a long term one.
I'm not trying to put you on a guilt trip, but perhaps you should talk to your girlfriend about the poor animal's likely hood of finding a new home at 4 years of age. She may change her mind, especially if you get him some K-9 Advantix or Frontline, and get rid of the fleas.

Do the dog a favor and bring him to a shelter. At that age he should adopt out fairly quickly. Atleast he will get the help he needs with the fleas.

I always adopt dogs that are a little older. Puppies ALWAYS get adopted, so I don't feel bad walking past them, and I prefer to get dogs that are already housebroken.

If youre gonna take him to the shelter, PLEASE take him to a non-kill shelter, really make sure its a non-kill shelter. If you had any love for this dog do him that favor especially when you say, "He's a good dog and well trained...good with cats, kids, good watchdog." Have a heart!

something we should all know......

ADOPTING A PET
is a long-term committment
Both dogs and cats, depending on their breed, care and overall health can live up to 15-20 years. Before adopting a pet, please carefully consider whether you have the time, commitment and financial security to care for an animal!!!!
