How much is the shark Mike? I have a few tanks and friends with proper tanks who might be interested depending on the price. I'm not getting involved in this argument, I just want to know the price.

Wow this is getting quiet nasty. I joined this website, for the great insight and help from fellow hobbyist. I can only attest to having bought from Michael in the past, and that experience has been great. If people feel that offended by the shark why not send him a PM, instead making this a bashing thread. Sad to see these kinds of threads.

Before you start populating a list of fish that should stay in the sea, I'd like to ask your motivation.

As some other members have wisely pointed out, that argument could be made for all the fish we keep.

Is the issue how many people have the means to support such an animal?
OK, I'll give you there are likely only a few hundred (or is it a few thousand) potential customers in this country for a black or white tip shark. How many potential customers are there for conspiculatus angels? How many people can afford to keep (and possibly lose) a $2000+ fish? What about a wrought iron butterfly? Aquariums on this board are filled with animals that very few people in this country can keep (whether due to difficulty, expense, size, etc).

How many can afford to lose a flame wrasse? Should they be prohibited?

How many have the skill to keep a pair or harem of psyche-head wrasses?

I truly do not understand why you are hung up on the size requirement for this animal.

Can we just get back to buying and selling in the thread. That's what it's here for right? There was a question about moral responsibility brought up and it was correct for people to ask and NYAquatic responded and it was his right to do so,

please or

And to clear up some stuff the first post had been updated to not include the other stock originally posted just the fish being questioned.

Brendan,

I appreciate the effort.

Unfortunately, the mods effectively killed this selling thread. This topic was just too juicy. That's why I asked for this whole subject to be removed from my thread.

Since that didn't happen, I removed my selling efforts and left this thread just for this discussion (you can move it to the general discussion area if you want).
I also tried to change the name on the thread to reflect the new subject matter. But for some reason it isn't showing up.

IMO ANY fish put in ANY tank has been sentenced to death. Some may live longer than others but the majority of any reef fish brought into the aquarium trade won't last very long whether it be from shipping stress, disease, or poor care. Pull your heads out of your a$$ people. By admiring our beautiful reefs at home we are in fact killing the animals that we love and respect. Just deal with it....lol

Rich,

I am actually much more relaxed than I might appear about this issue.
Luckily, MR is not a major part of my business' revenue.

Discussion boards like this are filled with people expressing their views and opinions. That's why they are called DISCUSSION boards. If we don't talk openly about issues, nobody will ever learn anything.

However, there are some basic rules of ettiquette that are typically followed. One of these rules is to prohibit discussions on selling threads. There are lots of other avenues on MR for discussion.

To make matters worse, when these discussions are introduced by moderators, not just members, they take on the air of authority. That's what pissed me off.

If Brett or Mike want to open a discussion in the general forum about the appropriateness of a particular animal, go right ahead.

JUST STAY THE HELL OUT OF SELLING THREADS.

See, I am relaxed.
