I just purchased the Canon Digital Rebel XTi "Digital SLR Camera" 10.1 megapixel for around $740 with 8 gig Media Card and Lens included. Hasn't failed me yet.

Deanos, didn't see the budget. Oops. I personally would try the Cannon Point & Shoot that was recommended. But if he is looking for that depth of field I would save for a Digital SLR.

sony makes better TV's than they do camera's. Don't waste your money. They are overpriced descent camera's. Get a good one from canon or nikon thats priced for what your getting.

because of the smaller chip and the very small aperature it takes to fill the chip, most P&S's have incredible DOF.
