Remore skimmer question

I have a remora skimmer I bought with no pump. Now it was recommended to me that I should use a Maxi-jet 1200, which i have to buy.

My question is I have a Maxi-jet 900 and I put it on the skimmer and the skimmer is making foam just not alot of it and from what i read when you first put in the skimmer it usually makes alot of foam, is it because Im using the smaller pump or should the 900 be good enough? Am I wasting my time putting the 900 on it for now?

Either way I should use the 1200 correct?

Get the large pump, 1200. The big the pump the the better the Remora will work. You can use the 900 for now but you really should get the 1200.

The amount of Foam and Skim depends on what you have it the tank and if you're running the skimmer wet or dry.

Since you're using the Remora get the 1200, you'll see the difference in the skimmer.

You can skimmer either wet or dry. By raising or lowering the cup you can change the skim from wet or dry skim.

Check out these links on Skimming and the Remora

A Remora is not a Venturi skimmer.

A MJ 900 can be used, but will not be as effective as a MJ 1200.
