Go to HD. Pick up a tube of GE silicone II. Read the label. SOmewhere it says 'not for aquarium use' Now pick up a tube of GE silicone I. Try to find the same warning. You won't. It's not on there. HMMMMMM.. Now why would they warn you about one type and not the other? could it be that type 1 is safe? and the same kind they put in the aquarium labled tubes? Because we all know if it says "aquarium" on it it's gonna cost more, for the exact same thing. B

Lowes will custom cut glass for you, but they only carry 2mm glass. After using the 2mm class, I would have gone for thicker as I cracked I baffled before I put my new sump under the tank. I replaced it and then about 2 months later cracked the same baffle again. It was the baffle closest to the skimmer. You can also special order from lowes if you want thicker, but I did not have time. Your best bet is probably a local glass shop, but make sure you get the thicker glass. Also I used GE silicon I and I have had not problems. |
