Seio's have a wider spread & softer flow, unlike the MJ which is a jet stream & can annoy corals if the flow is directly hitting it. It does take up some space & can be a bit more pricey.....but I would definitely go with a Seio. Last edited by "DevIouS"; 10-25-2006 at 04:46 PM. |

I also had pretty good results with this: http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...roduct=HD01401 attached to my MJ 1200.....but this one takes up space as well. |

I had a Flo attached to my Maxijet before also. Takes up a lot of space and actually seemed to make even more of a "jet" of water than the powerhead itself. It's just not constant, since it rotates. Seio is much better, and after the cost of the Flo and the Maxijet, isn't much more expensive. |

findingnemo why would you doubt my expertise. just kidding you may be a little worried @ first when you see your corals swaying around and your fish being pushed around by the current but it is very healthy for a reef tank. i like to place my seios @ the upper part of the tank. not to high or they will suck in air from the surface and not to low or you may directly hit corals or blow sand around. any questions you can pm me and i will help you out as best i can. jon-

go with a seio.... as already mentioned they have a wider and softer flow then the maxijets... the only problem is that they add a bit more heat then the maxi and consume a lil more energy... other then that seios are pretty good...

it all comes down to what you think will suit you needs. If you need something for now, for the price maxijet 1200 is great, seio is a better choice if you want to spend a little more money on a slightly better pump.In the future if you decide to go with a more advance setup, you may want to go with a tunze. but it's going to cost you alot more money. What ever you do. stay away from Vortech for now... in your current setup the seio or the maxijet will do just fine. but it's true that the seio is better. Oh and by the way, don't worry about scarf ace, he's harmless lol ![]() Last edited by Daceman; 10-26-2006 at 01:37 AM. |
