I was told that a large fluctuation in water temprature can exacerbate ich. water temprature should not rise above 80 degrees.

large fluctuation in water temp != water temp above 80F
the water temp is generally increased in order to increase the rate of the life cycle to more quickly rid of the ich.

I think discussions about ich should be made into a new thread. This thread should be used to post new links to other articles which would educate users on ich, not debate about them.
