What not to let happen

Here is a short story on what not to do.

Robert, for our anniversary, got me a Snowflake Moray Eel. I love it. I have always wanted one and now I have one. YEA.

I put him in my tank and I remember that I took off the back plastic lids because i didn't need them. I decided to not put them on because I just thought hey he isn't going to come out. I was proven wrong.
I was woken up by Robert screaming YOUR EEL IS ON THE FLOOR, YOUR EEL IS ON THE FLOOR!!!! I jump up from my bed to see that my eel is moving around franticly on the floor. I get my gloves on quick and pick him up with great difficulty and put him in the tank. Thank god the tank is right next to the bed.
The eel is doing fine and the plastic lids are back on the tank. I will never let that happen again.

A pic of my eel...

eels are notorious escape artists.

You should go find my Banana Eel(the one in my Avatar)and tell him to come back. He got out on three different occasions from the QT even with the plastics on the back.;( On the third time I wasn't home to rescue him.

I am so happy you got to him in time. My snowflake kept escaping through the old overflow box down into the wet/dry. After fishing him out like 6 different times I left him down there until he got to thick to fit through the teeth on the overflow box. Unfortunately I lost him in the move. I had that baby for over 6 years. He was no bigger then a number 2 pencil.
Now I have a zebra who has never tried to escape....

I have been looking at zebra eels I think they are amazing. I would love to get one, would you happen to know if you are able to put a zebra and snowflake in the same tank?

Not a problem, as both aren't that aggressive. You just need to make sure the tank is large enough to house both and take into account the additional load placed on the tank.

Thank you for the advice however I just had another jump. Found him on the side of the tank. I have no idea how he got out the top it completely closed. Sad to say he didn't make it. It was very upsetting. I thinks it going to be a very long time before I get another eel.
