Question SunPod

Ok, so the decision has been made. Solana it is...
Next question...lighting. I am leaning toward the 150w SunPod. I like the led option, but am wondering if they can be put on their own timer. I don't want to turn them on each day and off in the morning.

I have my current lights on their own separate timers with my Nano. It works great.

Any thoughts on the SunPod? Do I need a high wattage like the 250w?

Thoughts on a replacement skimmer and pumps( stock usually sucks on these things).

Thanks.

The Halide, blue LED's and White LED's all have seperate plugs that can be set to 3 different timers.

awesome to hear. I think getting the 250w is my best bet. I read a few old threads with reefs stating they wish they had gotten the 250 for their tanks and some were smaller than the Solana.

Thanks!

Question

Another question for Solana owners:

Will the HQI lights(250w) be too hot for the glass lid that fits over the top of the aquarium?I was told it would crack????
That seems odd if the SunPod was made for the top of aquariums, plus a piece of plastic covers the bulb to avoid contact with water.

Thoughts/

I've heard stories of them cracking but it seems doubtful unless it was cracked to begin with. I'd be more concerned with the water temp getting too high with HQI lighting and a lid on it.

Yes, that too. My chiller should do the work of taking care of that. It is slated to chill up to a 40 gallon tank.

Thanks!

Use egg crate or mesh to cover the tank. Don't use the glass cover.
