to lessen the strain on the pump in the sump you can put a tee in the return line and let some of the water recycle right back into the sump . you will have to put a ball valve and recirculate accordingly ,also this recirculated water can be run through a myriad of things ie carbon ,phasban etc thus reducing a pump in the sump good luck. oh yea a bioball on the top of the overflow box will also reduce the gurgling ! |

Thanks everyone for the advice, Ima try it all nd see what works. I do have one ball valve after my union on the return pipe to the tank and also one ball valve on the tube that runs from the tank (overflow) to the sump. Someone once told me that I shouldn't put valves on the tubing from the overflow box to the sump bc it might lead to a disaster. Is this true? |

God forbid a snail happens to take a tumble down the tube and get snagged up on the valve, your in trouble.
