Reefer Ratings: (6) Friends: (4) | My 65g SPS Reef
Hi everyone, I have met a few of you. Alot of you have not so I figured I should show some pics of my setup and Introduce myself officially. I know my join date was Feb of 2006, I lurked for a while and should have introduced by now. Sorry about that. I had a great time at the frag swap. It was my first MR event. This tank has been up and running for 6 months. I cooked my rock in tubs for about 2 months before I set it up in may. I am an SPS addict, i started out w/ some Digitata frags and as I gained confidence in my abilities to keep these things alive, I Tried some acro species and this is what I have so far. I apologize in advance for the pics. I am no professional nor do I claim to be. These were the best I could get out of my point and shoot camera. The colors on the pics aren't quite what they are in real life. But I can't adjust the white balance on this little camera. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are my lights...i am using 4x39w T5 bulbs w/ SLR reflectors and Icecap 660 ballast. These really crank out some serious light and I have been able to get growth on my "experiment frags" down on the sand. ![]() Here is the underneath showing the equip. Sump is an AGA 15g Eheim 1250 Return Pump Deltec AP600 Skimmer skiming 100% from the drain A little refugium w/ some cheato and calerpa w/ cheapo HD clamp light and a 6500k bulb. 5.5g Topoff Tank. (I use a double float switch and an aqualifter.) Tunze 6000 w/ controller Reefkeeper 2 controller Refurbed Perilstatic dosing pump w/ 2-channel tubing set to dose B-Ionic. ![]() And thats it in a nutshell...The two big colonies are the latest additions...I am hoping I can keep them alive because they are pretty sweet. The really think table like acro colony needs alot of flow to get those polyps in the middle moving so I moved the Tunze a bit. I got them 40% off from Reefer Madness. Of course they didn't look exactly like the photos, but If i can get them to color up close they will be pretty sweet specimens...Everything else I have are aquaculture frags. Thanks guys. The big one in the middle is supposed to be green w/ orange tip A. Sarmentosa. The other one a bit to the right is supposed to be green w/ blue tip A. Miriabilis. I think they lost a bit of color from the trip but they are looking better by the day. Polyps out, etc. The color looks a little better in person but they still have a ways to go color wise..I have only had them 3 days now. Both colonies came w/ acro crabs. ![]() |

Great looking tank, I look forward to more updates as it grows out.
