Tom from GC said it was likely that the tank was "improperly handled", and sadly I was working on the day the tank was delivered so I hired unknown movers to move the tank in my absence. I can't be certain the strain on the seams wasn't my fault. Plus, from what I have read of GC I'm not sure they would have eaten the full cost of returning and reshipping a second tank, and since the tank is only $800 while delivery is $400 I opted to try repairs rather than fight for a replacement.

I had straps on for about 2 weeks, but after speaking to silicone specialists, tank builders, and engineering friends I opted for just the exterior strips. I photographed the new seams and am keeping an eye on them constantly, but so far not even the slightest sign of movement. Truth be told Tom from GC and another tank builder with whom I spoke felt the original seams would be fine. I expect to buy a new tank in May or June so its not like I need this tank to last years. I tend to be an optimist at heart - hopefully I won't be sorry for that sentiment this time around

And here's a shot of the yellow stag with polyps that are turning blue in the new growth area. It ain't perfect, but I think its visible

Trust me I know how silly that sounds, and believe me when I say tearing down and rebuilding is the last thing I want to do, but I don't trust this tank over the long haul so replacement is the only option . . . ah well its only money

P.S. I believe I owe you an apology for failing to answer your email regarding the ballast. In my fickleness I decided to keep it on my frag system and was simply embarrassed to own up to the truth. Anyways, maybe I can make it to you with a frag on the 9th

System update.

Bill from SaltyCreefers hit the wholesalers last week and brought back a winner. Didn't look like much at first, but now it's clearly showing the coloration of a FragFarmer.com special the Pink Smoothie. I just have to convince him to keep it in my tank for a little longer until I can "accidentaly" break a piece off.

Otherwise everything is looking great with lots of great growth and coloration plus I just finished updating my website so make sure and stop by

Joe
