Reefer Ratings: (30) Friends: (0) | 6 gallon thread ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It was bought last winter. With a viper 70W halide that didnt do a good job. Downgraded to a 2x 18watt(actinic/day) fixture. Ran a phosban without the media to collect and dispense of dutrius (was an excellent idea). Tried running the nano skimmer (crap). No other mechanical filtration. 7+ lb of live rock. 5+ lb sand. (esv) Pistol, yellow watchman, clown (false), cucumber, corals. 2 mangroves in the back of the tank, in the over flow compartment. added a buffer for pH every 3-5 days. Nice nano dude. I like the orange linkia, I have a blue one. I heard that the nano skimmer does work, but is very picky on water level. Maybe just go skimmerless? The microbubbles are a bugger. It may be easier to just do frequent water changes on a small volume tank. |

U are right Chris. Having that skimmer gave me more head aches than cleaner water. I did water changes weekly. The star went into a bigger tank and the last picture was taken 5 months ago. The last state of the tank was not recorded. Soon I will show my new baby. ![]() Last edited by "DevIouS"; 11-26-2007 at 11:51 PM. |

I had that stupid skimmer ...gave it away. I don't understand why a company would keep selling it. It creates such a lousy reputation. Everyone sells it because everyone wants to think great this should work great and it just blows. I love the royal urchin ...I have one too . What do you feed your corals...how often. I am interested because I have a similar mix. Thanks |

used to feed crushed powder of frozen dried shrimp...(works very well with fish and corals). pellets for the fish, frozen dried brine. The problem is that I am a very generous hobbyist, and used to feed it quite often...Of course this was the cause for more frequent water changes. Last edited by drperetz; 11-27-2007 at 11:43 AM. |

Thanks...I am working on decent water changes weekly so very though the scale 4 to 1 everything else is the same. I have only two fish false clown and bicolor pseudocromis so needs are the same. Do you like a particular brand of food? |
