I dont want to keep it in my tank for long, I just want it to get rid of the hair, I dont want to take the chance of it dying and releasing the toxin. I have 1 big hermit that might irritate him but not sure. It usually walks over my chocolate chip, and sometimes the GSP's. |

RareZ, you have a chocolate chip star in your reef? Don't want to 'jack the thread, but you know they're not reef safe, right? Also, how big is your tank, sump and fuge? These hares are not big enough to release enough toxin to do any damage in a 100 gallon system. Remember, the solution to pollution is dilution. swimmer

55G AGA, No Sump , HOB REF. Yes I know the chocolate chip is not reef safe but with some miracle, this one hasn't touched any of my reef stuff.. I guess i was keeping an eye on it from the begening and keeping it off everytime when it on. So I guess it got used to not eating those. So far none of my reef stuff has been cosumed by the star. But it does go over them and sometimes make them close (gsp, zoo's, etc). But so far its fine. |

Instead of getting temporary animals why dont u guys just fix your set up?!?! I just got over a massive tank crash and my tank was over run with hair algae and cyano. The tank was imbalanced with crap from the die off and my new macro algae in my fuge was not big enough to compete with the hair algae. after good husbandary, 24/7 lighting on my fuge, a couple of tangs, and limited feedings my macro algae started to over take the hair for nutrients and now my tank is hair algae free. It also helped i dosed something that helps kills cyno and boosts macro algae growth. |

GQ - good points all of them and is what good husbandry is about, BUT, not everyone can/wants to wait the time it takes for the effects of the natural process to take place. kick starting the removal of the algae can help the Macro "take over" the nutrient battle. JMO House

AntiRed i believe. When i poured it, it seems to have the color of iodine and i noticed it did help. As for the fish part of it, there are other smaller fish such an algae blenny or a bi color. |

Be careful dosing anything that includes iodine, unless you test for it. Bicolor Blenny, pic #4 swimmer
