That's new to me ... You can use 1 400w ballast to run 2 400watt bulbs???

i meant just swap the ballast and the pendents, one will still only be on at any given time...but you can keep you corals alive atleast

Yes, just not at the same time.
Run one side in the morning, then the other in the evening.. until you get your replacement
