Manhattan Reefs Looking to set up a new nano-reef in Manhattan...

Experienced Maryland reef-keeper, newly assigned to Manhattan...am looking to set up a new nano-tank for Mid-Town apt....want to keep the gallonage small (no more than a 5 gallon water change), and need to find a place that offers interesting shaped tanks, i.e., large cube, long/slim/very shallow wave tank to drive with a couple of halides, or something different than a rectangle.

Best shop?

Thx!!!

Marc

Go on craigslist and search for aquarium, fish tank or reef. That will give you a lot of choices. You save a lot too. Just ignore the dudes that try to sell crap for several k.

hey Marc,

welcome to New York, and manhattan reefs.

there are not many shops in the city, but there are some in Brooklyn if your willing to travel a bit. give Sean at aquatic creations a call, I'm sure he could help you.

we also have a member here who makes acrylic tanks for people on the board, nypdfrogman, you can send him a pm through the site.

I'm sure you will get other suggestions, those are my two

Thanks Jhale

If you give me any shape or size I could have it built for you.
If you want to come into my shop and see what I have on display and discuss the tank in your mind feel free to stop in or call

If you wait around here long enough, you will probably see what you want posted in the for sale forum. Just an option if you want a used tank.

Also, if this is your first time in an apartment with a tank, I recommend reading some of the threads here to become aware of the issues and potential for flooding. This is probably a city reefer's worst nightmare, so it would be best to make sure you are aware of how to prevent it from happening to you.

i would go for a 16 or 27 g AGA bowfront. I personally love the 37g Oceanic 'semi-cube' - hard to find, but worth it imho.

New World on 38th between 2nd and 3rd has tanks - but I am sure they are overpriced. or just wait around on this site- people sell tank for pretty cheap!
