Just a question ,why do you need one for your reef ?
Are you have ich or algea problems ? I have my reef tank for over 2 years now ,never used a UV on it ,On my Fish only when i had I used one ,BUt for reef tanks not ness

Some kind of bacterial infection is melting my colt coral and nephthea...
Everything else is very healthy.

Did you try a large WC and running carbon and some poly filters ,cant hurt to try before gettting a UV which will heat your tank up a bit more

We do a 25% water change at least once a month and I run carbon continously.

Only thing I can think of is that there was a bacterial bloom because of moving the rocks around/stirring up the sand followed by a spike in temperature.

Well you dont have to buy one ,,you are more then welcome to use the one i have ,Its 25 W Aqua UV ,just need a pump or connect to your return ,
with a Bacteral prob in the tank 25% every month is not good
25% every week is better JMO ,,
BUt if you need the UV ,

I just added triple the normal amount of carbon I use. Hopefully that will help, also cranked up my ASM skimmer to produce wetter foam.
