Yo nut, just an observation about the skimmer and lack of collection cup. If the system is running on an ATO, there can be major issues with a hose discharge on the skimmer.

What can happen is an undefined amount of skimmate (possibly clear water if not dialed in right) can be discharged, only to be replaced by freshwater as opposed to saltwater. Be careful with this type of setup, severe salinity changes can occur.

Thanks for the tips. I will double check. That's one more reason I hate a good skimmer. It seems to be a good skimmer because it does skim almost immediately even when the water is kind of new.

To solve the possibility of such event, I have devised a funny looking EQ. It's a simple plastic collection jar that floats in the sump. It's then tied to the hose of the skimmer loosely so that it can go up and down along with the weight of it's content. When there are too much water in the jar, it sinks deeper and displace more outside water so the level of the sump stays the same. Pics to come next time when I am at the clients' site.

I'd like to see this contraption. I can envision what you're talking about, but I'd like to see the beta tester. Good luck with it.
