good pictures. how deep does your sand bed have to be?

I don' t think it's a must to have sand. They currently lived in a bare bottom tank and is quite happy. Sometimes even the wrasse sleep with them.

In fact, if you have a DSB, they may stir the sand too much.

I am not. I know what those links are about. The common way is not necessarily the only way. Well, I do not ask anyone to believe me but I found that my bare bottom so far works for them. I know their natural sand habitats pretty well but in captivity, many tanks' sand bed is not setup for them.

Reef mags and forums, also say wrasses need sand bed but I found that some wrasses hurt themselves with sand bed in captivity with my own eyes while solving some mysteries of my clients. What changes the whole scenarios is in captivity.

Wrasses will prefer ultra fine sugar size sand, bigger sand will be abrasive to their skin because they don't dig.. they just dive into the sand.

Jawfish will prefer larger pebbles because they like to construct their homes.

Yup. They even take shells to built his house. Sometimes it's funny to watch them taking a not-so-lively snail home and then the snails try to walk away then couple seconds later, he has to repeat the same pick up thing again and stuff him back in the cave.

BTW, can you raise any your jawfish babies. And where are the pics o the the new batches?

no luck with the jawfish babies. They end up swallowing the eggs a lot of times.
they're holding eggs again right now. It was laid overnight between May 8-9.
I'm too lazy to take pics before it looks almost the same thing over and over
